It can be tough to stay positive in sales. After all, the vast majority of your work will be rejected. Most deals never close. This can have an impact on the confidence you have in your ability to sell. Therefore, it’s even more important for sales professionals and recruiters to stay confident.

Easier said than done, right?

Sales slumps, rejection, and a generally negative outlook on sales can make it difficult for you to not get jaded and think negatively.

Here are a number of strategies you can implement today to boost your confidence in your sales abilities:

1. Visualize

Visualization is a commonly used tool by many professionals, and it’s rather simple. All you need to do is close your eyes and visualize yourself as a confident sales professional. Visualize the sales process, interacting with clients, and closing deals.

You can do this as part of meditation exercises. Many people also have vision boards to help them visualize success, top performance and serve as a reminder about their abilities.

2. Trust the Process

The vast majority of sales companies provide reps with a sales process to follow. This process was established for a reason – because it works. Trust in the time, research, and development put into the sales process. Have confidence that if you stick to the process, you will experience the desired result.

3. Testimonials

Sometimes we need a reminder of our success and ability to help customers. Keeping track of testimonials, referrals, and kind words from clients can help you quickly get back on track if your confidence starts to waver.

4. Focus on Positivity

Negative thoughts will creep into your mind. It happens to everyone. But you have a choice to dwell on them and let them affect you, or you can reject them and focus on being positive. Take the high road and focus on positive thoughts. Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people and focus on creating positive situations.

Remember, you are an expert in sales. You know your products, you know your sales process and you know what it takes to successfully close deals. Maintaining this positive mindset will help you stay confident and maximize your performance.
