With a recession looming and many companies thinking about laying off some of their staff, you may have started to think about making a career move. One of the first places most people turn to today is LinkedIn to search for opportunities.

But the problem is there are close to 300 million users on the platform. How do you stand out from the crowd and get noticed by sales recruiters on LinkedIn?

Our sales recruiters offer up 3 ways for you to improve your chances of connecting with a recruiter on LinkedIn.

1. The obvious improvement – Tell recruiters you’re looking

If you are actively looking for a sales job, make it known. Mention you are looking in your profile or even in your tagline. This will help make it crystal clear that you are open to opportunities.

This may be easier said than done if you currently have a job and don’t want your employer to know you are looking. But you can make subtle suggestions you are looking in your profile to hint at the fact that you want to connect and explore your options. sales person on a hot air balloon, trying her best to get noticed

2. The thorough improvement – Have a complete and detailed profile

As they say, you get out of it what you put into it. The more information on your LinkedIn profile, the better. Spend the time to fill out all sections of your profile with as much detail as possible. It’s important to do this for a couple of reasons.

First, recruiters will overlook incomplete or outdated profiles. If you don’t have a picture and it appears you haven’t updated your profile for a while, they’ll move on and look for more active candidates.

Second, including more information on your profile increases your chances of being found when recruiters perform searches for candidates. It gives you a better chance of showing in more searches. So, be as detailed as possible.

3. The strategic improvement – Optimize your profile using the right keywords

Adopt a recruiter’s mindset. If you were looking for sales talent, what keywords and phrases would you search? Make sure to include these keywords throughout our profile, but do so in a natural way. Avoid trying to stuff in keywords. You can get ideas from job ads.

Once you’ve optimized your profile, perform a search to see if your profile appears. See where you rank among candidates. Refine your profile if necessary to create greater visibility.
