Professionals hire sales recruiters to help them find a new job. But this doesn’t mean it’s the only source of jobs for you. It’s not uncommon for candidates to also look for themselves, and many people end up with offers from companies that don’t come from their recruiter.

This begs the question – should you tell your sales recruiter about other job offers?

Yes – You Should Tell Your Sales Recruiter About Other Offers

Many people are surprised to hear the answer. Yes, you should tell your recruiter. Why? There are many reasons.

You agreed to work with the recruiter, and they have agreed to put in the time and effort to help you find a job. You have a business relationship. Part of this business relationship is to trust and respect one another. You wouldn’t want your recruiter to be shady and withhold information from you, right?

1. It shows you respect the sales recruiter

Having a good relationship with your sales recruiter is important. Being transparent about your job search intentions will help you build trust. It also shows that you respect the sales recruiter’s time and effort. Even though you have another offer, it doesn’t mean it’s the one you want to take. It could also be used as a bargaining chip to light a fire under your recruiter to find you something better.

Plus, you never know when you will need a good sales recruiter in the future.

2. Speed up the process

Telling your recruiter about an offer can help speed up the process with any companies you may be in contact with. You may get an interview quicker or learn about whether or not they are considering you for a job.

3. Shows you are in demand

Finally, telling your recruiter that you have another offer shows that you are an in-demand sales talent. This makes you look like a more legitimate candidate, and they may choose to invest more time and effort into finding you a job.
