You only have a few seconds to capture a buyer’s attention or you could lose them for good. We have short attention spans today, and people get bored and distracted easily.

People are subjected to so many messages and forms of communication each day. Breaking through is a challenge. Sales recruiters who know how to connect right away will have a better chance of turning prospects into buyers, and buyers into repeat business and revenue for their organizations.

5 Clever Ways to Get a Buyer’s Attention in Less Than 10 Seconds

Most of us initially contact online via email, so we have put together a list of clever ways to grab a buyer’s attention in only a few seconds:

1. Be personal:

Generic bulk messages don’t work. The second a buyer realizes they are part of a mass email, they’ll disengage. Be personal and cater your emails based on the individual customer. Sure, this will take more time, but you’ll increase your chances of getting your buyer’s attention –which is the ultimate goal.

2. Get your subject line right:

A clever and interesting subject line is one of the most effective ways to get someone’s attention (and get them to at least look at your message). Most people won’t open an email if the subject line isn’t engaging. Use humour and say something unique to get them interested.

3. Use strong imagery:

As they say, a picture says 1000 words. We are a visual society and the more visual cues you can use, the better. Include images of the products and services you offer. If possible, consider taking it the next step by including a video of a product demo or message from a key decision maker in your company.

4. Use numbers:

Use stats, sales figures, and data to summarize the point you want to get across. Numbers are quick and easy to interpret. If you have great numbers, they’ll surely get your buyer’s attention. If possible, use numbers that are specific to your buyer’s business needs.

5. Have a strong email signature:

Make sure to provide all contact information and links to important blogs or webpages in your email signature. Giving buyers more contact options is always better.
