If you want to sell more, you could probably use some sales email tricks. When you send engaging emails that prospects click on and read, you make money. Email is still one of the most effective ways to engage with your audiences. The better your emails, the higher your conversion rate.

If you’ve been sending out emails to your leads but haven’t been seeing great results, you could be in need of our sales email tricks.

These five sales email tricks can effectively change the way you engage with your prospects. You can start using these sales email tricks today and start closing more deals.

1. An Engaging Subject Line

Your email subject line is super important, so this is one of the most important sales email tricks to read. Nothing is going to happen until your prospects start opening your emails. The length doesn’t affect readership or reply rates, but the words you use do. There are four categories of proven subject lines: curiosity, benefit, urgency or scarcity, and proof or credibility.

Curiosity-based subject lines tease the reader so he’s tempted to open the email to find out more—they’re mysterious. They leave the reader hanging so he has to click in order to know the answer.

Benefit-based subject lines directly state the benefit of clicking on the email. The message is clear.

Urgency- or scarcity-based subject lines stress the importance of acting now or else the reader will miss something, either because it’s a limited time offer or because there are only a few offers left to be claimed.

Proof- or credibility-based subject lines leverage results to build credibility in order to increase the readership rate. They speak to the success or satisfaction of others.

2. Stand Out

Your leads are probably getting tons of emails just like yours, so you have to make yours stand out. You have to be creative if you want to get the sale. Do a little research and add some personalized notes. For example, if you see that a client has a book blog, casually mention the last book you read on her list. The little something extra will grab her attention.

3. Email at the Right Time

One of the best sales email tricks I was ever taught was to know when to send an email. The day and time of your email can have a huge impact on whether or not it is opened or replied to. Specifically, sending out emails in the morning can be ineffective—although people are checking their inboxes early in the morning, they have no plans to read or respond to anything until they’ve had their morning coffee—they’re just checking it to purge through the morning junk. Research has shown that the highest opening rate and conversion rate actually occur in the evening after people have left work for the day—anywhere between 8 pm and midnight.

4. Provide Value

People are sick and tired of being sold to. Your emails shouldn’t be all about selling. They should be educational, informational, engaging, and interesting. Send out interesting articles, testimonials, or advice. Switch up your content in order to humanize your company and start building relationships.

5. Be Casual

For some reason, sales people often use a formal tone in their emails. Of the five sales email tricks listed, this is the one to really pay attention to. Even though you’re talking business, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a friendly, informal tone in your email. Being formal just makes it clear that you’re looking to sell something. Loosen them up and act casual.
